development that enables children to interact effectively with their peers
and environment. However, many children experience limited socialization
skills due to a lack of interactive learning activities. The role-playing
method is believed to be one of the effective learning strategies to
enhance children’s social interaction, cooperation, and empathy.
Objective: This study aims to determine the influence of the role-playing
method on the socialization skills of early childhood (aged 3–5 years) at
PAUD Lentera Impian Sahabat, Sorong City.

Method: This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-
experimental design and a one-group pretest–posttest model. The

19

population in this study consisted of 62 children, and a sample of 38
respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin
of error. Data were collected through observation sheets that had been
tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the
Paired Sample t-test.
Results: The results showed a significant improvement in children’s
socialization skills after the implementation of the role-playing method.
The mean score increased from 28.42 (pre-test) to 49.39 (post-test), with a
mean difference of 20.97. The statistical test results showed p = 0.000 (p
< 0.05), indicating a significant influence of the role-playing method on
children’s socialization skills.
Conclusion: The role-playing method has a significant positive effect on
improving the socialization skills of early childhood. Therefore, teachers
are encouraged to implement role-playing activities as part of learning
strategies to enhance children’s social competence.
